Provision of Care, Treatment, and Services (PC) Standards

PC.02.01.01 The hospital provides care, treatment, and services for each patient.
- EP10 Identifying patients for blood or blood component transfusion
PC.03.01.01 The hospital plans operative or other high-risk procedures, including those that require the administration of moderate or deep sedation or anesthesia.
PC.03.01.03 The hospital provides the patient with care before initiating operative or other high-risk procedures, including those that require the administration of moderate or deep sedation or anesthesia.
PC.03.01.05 The hospital monitors the patient during operative or other high-risk procedures and/or during the administration of moderate or deep sedation or anesthesia.

Element of Performance

The laboratory follows a written policy, approved by the medical staff and a pathologist, that establishes which tissue specimens require only a macroscopic examination, and which require both a macroscopic and microscopic examination.
